Lai Garden Tea House

Today we celebrated Mothers day by treating my mom out for lunch. When we arrived at the mall we haven't decided where to eat so we took some time looking for a restaurant which was not full. I was amazed that all the restaurant where we usually don't have that much costumers were actually full. Anyway we decided to eat in Lai garden, when we arrived there we had to take a priority number since it was also full.

While waiting for any vacancy, my brother and I took a look at their menu. I thought that they had the usual chinese restaurant menu, to my surprise they had a lot of different recipes that I haven't seen in other restaurants. I told my brother that we should try some of the dishes that we haven't tasted yet, but he was hesitant since he doesn't wants his moneys worth since the both of us are paying for it. Anyway we ordered the usual dishes Chao Fan Fried Rice, Lemon Chicken, Spare Ribs, Spring Roll, Cold Cuts, Spicy Fried Squid and some kind of soup that I haven't got any clue.

Their food tasted ok except for some dishes, but the service was a little bad. Maybe its because the place was crowded because of the occasion but that was no excuse for the bad service. We had to stand and wait for more that 20minutes in front of our table for our seats. The consistency of their food was also affected due to the overwhelming customers. I guess their service will be better during the regular days.

As for the prices of their food here's the breakdown:

Special Roasting Cold Cut Whole - P350.00
Minced B. W/ Po. Chay Soup - P180.00
Lemon Chicken - P 200.00
Lumpia Shanghai - P 160.00
Spicy Squid w/ S. & Pepper - P 180.00
Lai- Lai Chau Fat Chin - P 180.00
Spareribs W/ S. Sauce - P 160.00
Yang Chow Fried Rice - P 130.00

Its a good thing I still have the receipt.hehehe

Anyway all in all we spent P1905.00 including the drinks. Overall the price is fine since this is not a fast food restaurant. This would be a good place to have lunch or dinner together with your family.

  1. I HATE Lai Garden SM. If the blog owner respects honesty and integrity then this blog should publish my comment. We went there with my family Nov. 22,2012 during lunch time, we entered the place and no one greeted us, there were few customers but no one accomodated to give us a table. After finding a table for ourselves, we waited for ten minutes and no one even offered to give us a menu, we called for numerous waiters but no one was willing to oblige. After calling someone, a waitress finally gave one menu for the entire table! She told us to order through another waiter and after waiting for ten more minutes, NO ONE would even come to our table to take our order. We left hungry, angry and disgusted. We highly recommend lai garden if you want to have a LOUSY time with your family.

    1. Hello Jim Franco. I hope you know I am not connected with any of the restaurants I posted here. I haven't been to Lai Garden lately so I don't have any idea if their service has deteriorated.

I am actually open to any comments so long as they won't use any profanity or spam comments unrelated to the post on my blog. That is the reason why I have to check each comment that gets posted here.

As for your terrible experience at Lai Garden SM, I hope your comment will reach their management so that they can improve their service. Anyway thanks for taking the time to share your experience here, even though it wasn't a good one.

  3. To the representative of Lai Garden. Thanks for clearing this up. Sorry for the delayed publishing of your comment. I was busy the past few days and wasn't able to go online. As I mentioned above I placed a filter on my comments section since there are people who place unrelated comment or defamatory comments on establishment without any basis.

Anyway I hope this clears things up with other readers of this post. I have dined at your establishment numerous times and didn't have any problems with your service on regular days. Service on all restaurants are usually slower during special days which is totally understandable.

Regarding your promo on the budget meals and family meals, I will drop by your establishment soon and try out your amazing deals.

  7. I've been craving for Lemon or Orange Chicken lately. You've tried the lemon chicken from a few chinese restaurants around the city. Which one do you think is the best?

  8. I have always had a great time dining at Lai. Unfortunately, yesterday was an exception. My friends and I went to Lai Garden last night (February 8, 2014) and we left very disappointed of their service. We ordered four meals and waited for those to be served to us. After waiting for more than 30 minutes, one of our orders still did not arrive, so I asked for it. The soup and our drinks came late as well. I never complained about the delay, because we weren't in a hurry anyway. One of the guys came to us and asked if we were that there was still a meal left not served so I said yes. We gave him our receipts and I asked him, "Don't you have a list or something?" He walked out without answering my question. I felt disrespected and I didn't want to let the event pass without talking to the manager. The manager said that the cashier made some mistakes about and order. I could understand that. But a member of the crew not answering my question? I didn't deserve that, as a paying customer. I don't know his reasons for doing that, but his actions were very much uncalled for. I am hoping that some of the higher management could read this. They don't have an email, from what I learned from the manager. Sucks big time!
